Orbital Fasteners have over 35 years experience in the construction industry, having supplied many large scale projects from their Watford headquarters. They started trading online with the help of NEON back in 2005 and have grown to be one of the most prominent players in the industry.

Orbital Fasteners see their online offering as a key factor in their incredible success and they continue to grow consistently to this day.

Improving upon success

Orbital already had a very successful online store, however, it was time to modernise their website with improved technology and redesign it to meet the increase in users expectations.

Orbital wanted to improve upon what they already had by improving the online store's user interface and by creating an enhanced user experience. All of this would help improve conversion ratios and reduce support requests.

It was also important the revamped website supported online marketing activities and other future ventures, such as mobile apps and system integrations.

Forward thinking solution

NEON upgraded Orbital's website to their latest e-commerce solution, Lunar. Lunar provides all the tools to create modern e-commerce solutions that are fast, designed to scale and support future requirements.

To improve the users experience a brand new interface was designed, paying particular attention to the checkout process.

On the previous website, product discoverability was a big issue, with 10,000's of products it was difficult for customers to find the products they required. NEON realised that Orbital would need an intelligent solution to their product search problems. However, they lacked the "big data" that companies like Amazon and eBay have acquired. The final solution was to implement a search that uses Artificial Intelligence and learns and optimises page layouts as visitors engage with them.

The new site also integrated with their ERP system to automatically update prices and stock levels, transmit orders and send invoices automatically to customers.
